The Difference Between Vertical and Horizontal Milling
The most common type of CNC milling is vertical. In vertical milling, a vertically-oriented spindle holds and rotates a cutting tool against a workpiece.
Another less common type of CNC milling is horizontal. In horizontal milling, the spindle is oriented horizontally or parallel to the ground.

In a horizontal mill, operators can load parts while machined. In this way, horizontal machining increases the efficiency of the manufacturing process, even for more complex parts.
